Uncontrolled Population Growth in Indonesia [Prensa Latina]

Jakarta, Mar 29 (Prensa Latina)

According to a demography expert, the uncontrolled population growth in Indonesia could become a serious threat in this country.

Sugiri Syarief, head of the Indonesia National Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN), alerts that the current rate of growth can bring great harm to various socio-economic sectors.

Syarief said that the 2010 census showed reliable signals of a great increase in population.

H[e] noted that authorities already face substantial obstacles to solve problems such as majority access to drinking water, education and health, or to respond to environmental pollution or natural disasters.

"This happens with nearly 238 million inhabitants; imagine what would happen if population growth continues and we approach 500 million", Syarief said. If that growth continues, 450 million people would live in Indonesia in 2045, which will constitute an untenable situation.

  1. So welcome the population to grow naturally, at the full natural unrestrained birthrate, because more and more people would be glad to become alive and be born. If such a great population increase is already coming, doesn’t that suggest that quite many people still want traditionally very large families?

As a pro-lifer, I do not expect people to use any means of “birth control,” as wouldn’t that seek to hinder the natural flow of human life? Sex wasn’t just meant to be natural, but to spread human life, and is the means of procreation and the natural enlargement of the human race.

The more people there are, the more people there are around to benefit from living. By growing denser, place can be found, or made, for all the people there may soon be regardless.

People were never designed by God, to use “birth control,” but to go on multiplying naturally, so I have long advocated large families worldwide, and the so-called “uncontrolled” growth of human numbers. “Ideal” or “optimum” size of population, if man can even define such a thing, isn’t small and paltry, but more like “nearly as large as possible,” so everybody can enjoy having their precious darling babies, and the world can blossom and come alive with humanity.

I am quite sure Indonesia can hold, or be made to hold, 500 million, even billions of people, at least if government corruption can be reduced, so that technological and economic progress can be made. The answer is not how to trick or deceive people into using the unnatural Big Pharma nasty contraceptives, but to simply allow populations to grow naturally, denser and denser if or as necessary.

Sounds like good news to me. Thing of all the potential, not all the Malthusian gloom-and-doom lies an evil, unbelieving, world has told us.

  2. Well, I’m glad you’re not in a leadership position in the Indonesian government. Unlike your naive and reactionary position regarding limitless population increase, the official in this article realizes the link between the environmental degradation and poverty in Indonesia and a birth rate that’s too high.

Indonesians can’t even manage adequate drinking water, education and health facilities for most of their population at this time, indicating widespread social misery. The addition of more people cannot solve those problems, but will certainly aggravate them further.

    • But I would do a much better job, than most so-called leaders, that is, if I even want that job?…
